Find a digital audiobook.

Use R.E.A.D.S. (Regional eBook & Audiobook Download System) to find downloadable audio books and electronic books, including popular fiction, consumer nonfiction, language instruction, and books for children and teens. The eBooks are available in PDF format; audio books are available in Windows Media format. The digital books are compatible with many desktop computers, laptops, tablet PCs, WMA/MP3 players (except iPods) and Pocket PCs. Once downloaded, many audio books can be burned to CD and used in car stereos or regular CD players. Books check out for 2 weeks; after 2 weeks, the books are automatically returned -- no late fees ever! You may check out a maximum of 10 titles at a time. Like normal library books, you can place a hold on any unavailable title and receive an email notification when the book is ready for you to check out. To access this collection, visit the R.E.A.D.S. website:

  • On your first visit, you will need to download free software from the website, in order to listen to the digital audio books.
  • To sign in, select the Highland Rim Region.
  • Then select your library branch (Eagleville, Linebaugh, MGL, or Smyrna) and enter your library card number.
  • You can also access R.E.A.D.S. titles using a download kiosk at Linebaugh Public Library.

Find an electronic book.

The Linebaugh Library System owns a number of electronic books, available through the NetLibrary company. Most of the titles are nonfiction works. You can find these books listed in iBistro, or you can go directly to the NetLibrary site to access our collection, as well as to access public domain eBooks (these are not listed in our iBistro). You can access the eBooks from any Internet-capable computer. In order to access the collection on a computer outside the library, you will first need to create a free account using one of the library's computers; an email address is required. Books cannot be downloaded.

Find a book to purchase online.

LPLS's new online bookstore, MyLibraryBookstore, carries about 1 million book titles, plus all the latest DVDs and CDs from dozens of genres, just like other online bookstores. The benefit to using MyLibraryBookstore is that proceeds from your purchases directly benefit the Linebaugh Library System.

Find a book in another library.

Use the Tennessee Public Library Catalog, to search the catalogs of most public libraries in the state of Tennessee. This useful tool can tell you which libraries in the state own a title that you seek. You may also use AGent to learn which libraries subscribe to a particular newspaper or periodical.

Use WorldCat to search for materials in thousands of public, university, and other libraries. You can search for books, music, and videos, to see what libraries near you own them. You can also find research articles and digital books that can be directly viewed or downloaded.
