How To Keep Your Computer Safe

Restricting Active X Controls:

  1. To change the security setting, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Then select the Security tab. From here you can choose the security level setting. To change the Active X Controls, click on the Custom Level button.

  2. Under “Download signed ActiveX Controls” choose Prompt. This will allow you to see an Active X control and who it’s from before it is installed. Never blindly trust an Active X control just because it’s signed or looks trustworthy – research it first.

  3. Click on Custom Levels to change the Active X settings. Under “Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls” choose Disable.

  4. Under “Initialize and Script Active X Controls Not Marked As Safe” choose Disable.
