Come and celebrate the third annual National Gaming Day at Linebaugh and Smyrna Library on November 13! We will have several games to play, including board games and video games on our Nintendo Wii.
Linebaugh Activities Wii gaming will be offered all day long in the Youth Services area, with the following schedule: 9-11 a.m. - Newbie Gaming: Younger and beginner gamers can test the waters before the novices take over. 11 a.m. - noon - Wii Fit Plus: Work off your lunch with a little one-on-one on our Wii Fit system. noon - 3 p.m. - All-Ages Gaming: Join us for some intensely competitive all-ages tournaments 3-5 p.m. - Teens Only Gaming: Teen friendly games, for ages 12-18 only
Board games for various ages will be available all day on a first-come, first-served basis. Available games include: Checkers, Chess, Go Fish, Haunted Ruins, Monopoly, Pictureka, Say Anything, Scrabble, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, What's Gnu, Wits & Wagers, Word Rummy, and Word Spot.
Handheld gaming systems are also welcome; Linebaugh Library has free wi-fi.
Smyrna Activities Wii gaming (featuring various games) and board games will be available for all ages to play from 10 a.m. to noon.
At Linebaugh, we'll be featuring games on the Nintendo Wii and playing on a 96" widescreen inflatable screen. At Smyrna, we'll be playing games on the Nintendo Wii using our projector screen.
Wii games are offered thanks to a $5000 Community Building Through Video Games in Libraries grant, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library and Services Technology Act, administered by the Department of State, Tennessee State Library and Archives. The intent of the grant is to promote lifelong learning and literacy in the library through video game programs, while raising awareness about library services. Board games are provided in part by Hobbytown USA and the American Library Association.
Keep informed Linebaugh Library offers all-ages gaming on the third Saturday of each month, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Join us again on November 20. Come out and help build a gaming community at your library!
