For Yourself or in Memory of Someone

When you make a charitable contribution, you want to be sure that your money will be used effectively to improve the quality of life in our community.  A gift to the Linebaugh Library System is an excellent way to ensure quality library services for the Rutherford County area.

So many successful people tell stories of how important the library has been in their lives.  Each day in Rutherford County, our library staff reaches out to children and adults to help them grow and learn.  We foster a love of reading and provide the vital information services people need.

The continued excellence in services of the Linebaugh Library System is a tribute to the generosity and support of people like you.

There are many reasons to give to the Linebaugh Library System.  The following information briefly describes several fine ways to give to your library.  We are always happy to discuss options with you so that your gift can truly reflect the spirit in which it is given.  

Giving Opportunities

Direct Donations   

Donations can be made to any branch to purchase library materials, equipment, or to sponsor library programs.

Memorial & Tribute Contributions       

Gifts in memory or in honor of a family member or friend are welcomed. Contributions can be made to any branch to purchase library materials. There are several ways to make a contribution to your library:

1.  Memorial Book           

Memorial books may be purchased with contributions of $35 and above. A memorial book is a simple, thoughtful way to honor the memory of a loved one. Library staff will select a book in the subject area of your choice. A bookplate is placed in the front of each memorial book showing the name of the deceased and the donor. We will send a letter to family members notifying them of your gift.

2.  Tribute Book    

Tribute books may be purchased with contributions of $35 and above. A tribute book is a wonderful way to honor loved ones on a special occasion -- such as a birthday or holiday, wedding or anniversary, graduation or promotion -- to recognize a special achievement, or to show thanks to a business or a friend. Library staff will select a book in the subject area of your choice. A bookplate is placed in the front of each tribute book showing the name of the honoree and the donor. We will send a letter to the honoree notifying them of your gift.

3.  Memorial Book Fund       

All contributions below $35 will be placed in a memorial book fund.  These funds are used to strengthen areas of the collection.  A bookplate will be placed in the books selected stating:  This book was purchased with contributions to the memorial book fund.  Neither the name of the deceased nor the donor will appear in these books. We will send a letter to family members notifying them of your gift.

4.  Gift Books        

Patrons may purchase and donate a book to the library in honor or memory of a loved one. Gift books are accepted as memorials under the following conditions: they are in good condition; they are not currently owned by the library; and they are appropriate for the library's collection.

5. Perpetual Book Fund

For a minimum donation of $2,000 to the Linebaugh Library Foundation, the Linebaugh Library System will purchase items every year with the interest earned from the money given. The donor decides whether books or other materials will be selected and which library will benefit. Every year you'll receive a letter listing the titles purchased. You may come to the library to receive and complete a memorial/tribute form, or you may print a copy of the memorial/tribute form and mail it or bring it to the library already completed. Contributions may be paid via cash, check, Visa, or Master Card.

Donations of Materials     

Books, audio-visual materials, and other items may be donated to any library location.  Materials not used in the library's collection will be sold at library book sales.  You may request a tax receipt stating the number of items donated.
