Micro Loan Orientation Workshop The City of Murfreesboro recently established a Microenterprise Loan Fund to create, retain, or expand small businesses and employment in the Murfreesboro city limits. The Microenterprise Loan Fund provides eligible applicants with technical and financial planning assistance, which will be provided through a partnership between the City and MTSU's Jennings A. Jones College of Business, Tennessee Small Business Development Center. TSBDC business counselors will work with prospective borrowers to prepare them for loan readiness, then continue to work with the borrowers' business after the loan has been issued by the city. The first in a series of micro loan orientation training workshops conducted by the TSBDC will be held at Linebaugh Library at 4 p.m. on February 11. Seating is limited, so advance reservations are required. Call 615-893-4131, ext. 110, to register.

NPT ScienceNOW is a face to face, informal conversation about current science topics. Each meeting is focused on an interesting, lively discussion led by an expert in the field. It’s about exchanging points of views and appreciating differences. It’s about learning and sharing science for all. Meetings will be held monthly on the first Tuesday at noon. On March 2, our topic will be Pandemic Flu. Whether tackling how science can solve global problems or help us to understand how the universe works, these gatherings are NOT lectures. They are an opportunity for you to share your opinions, ideas and thoughts with other science lovers and to meet local scientists in a fun, casual setting. Bring a lunch and join us for this "Science Off the Shelf" series. This program series is co-sponsored by Nashville Public Television.
