After 10+ years, the well-loved "mobile library" needed a makeover. Along with changes to our logo and branding, it needed fresh graphics as the weather had taken its toll, fading and cracking the vinyl wrap. When looking at where to start, we realized that what better place to start than with our own creative and imaginative staff members. The impressive results were designed by library associates Jessica Bruce and Michael Cleaves along with an "inside" look photo on the back by Circulation Supervisor Kathleen Tyree.
Linebaugh's foremost priority has always been seeking ways to not only reach the community but to empower and educate. The Bookmobile is the primary source of outreach. With that in mind, Jessica and Mike stated in their proposal that they "wanted a design that illustrates making relationships through our connection with the community. That connection comes in many different forms: books, technology, events, stories and the quest for knowledge. The Bookmobile makes these opportunities available to people who cannot take advantage of our facilities."
They went on to say that they wanted to capture the experience of reading a book. When someone reads a book, the world around him or her comes alive with color and imagery. The piece tells the library's story; how libraries sow the seeds of knowledge. From the first book a child reads to the budding student furthering education and even to the adult looking to pass the time. The library and Bookmobile house everything one needs to take part in this experience.
