S.W.A.P.S.W.A.P.

Introducing School Work Assistance Program (S.W.A.P.). Get help with your school work every Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Open for students of all ages. Sponsored by the MTSU Chapter of the National Assocation of Black Social Workers and MGL Library.

 

Senior Citizen Fellowship

Senior citizens are invited to join us on the first Thursday of each month, noon - 1:30 p.m. Enjoy meeting other seniors for a time of fellowship, speakers, food, and fun. This program is free and open to all seniors. Co-sponsored by Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation. Upcoming topics include:

  • April 1 - Gardening class (see below)

  • May 6 - Crafts with Trina Pullum, Parks & Rec

  • June 3 - Reading with the Seniors (Summer Reading Program)

  • July 1 - Reading with the Seniors (Summer Reading Program)

Gardening Series

The LPLS Gardening series is devoted to nature, gardening, plants, vegetables, and more. Join us at MGL at noon on April 1, when we will discuss Arrangements from Your Garden. Participants should bring a pencil and paper. Classes will be held once per month at one of the LPLS branches. Each month a Master Gardener from the area will discuss a different topic and answer gardening questions.  All classes are free and open to the public; no advance registration is required.

 

Bookworms Club

Join us at Patterson Park Community Center, 10-11 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month for the Bookworms Club. Preschool-age children will visit different stations in the center for a yummy snack craft, an art activity, and cuddle time / story time in the MGL Library. This program is open to the public; there is a $3 materials fee. For more information, call Trina Pullum at 615-893-7439. Sponsored by Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation and MGL Library.

 

GED Classes

MGL Library and Rutherford County Adult Education offers free GED classes. The GED (General Education Development) provides an opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma. Classes will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursday, 6-8 p.m. Free childcare and homework assistance will be available for children of participants. Story Time

Join us for Story Time! Story Time is held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for preschool age children. Activities include story telling, music, and more.
