MGL Library Myrtle G. Lord
|
| Myrtle G. Lord inspired the children of Murfreesboro to read and learn for many years.
Because of the instrumental role she played in the Patterson Park Community
Center, and the library/learning center contained within, the Myrtle Glanton
Lord Lord Library is named in her honor.
Ms. Lord died on April 16, 2007. She was 99 years old.
Ms. Lord worked for 42 years as an educator in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County Schools, mostly teaching first and second grade. She also worked within the community to restore the former Bradley Academy, which is now a historical and cultural center, and was involved in the planning for the Patterson Park Community Center.
She retired from teaching in 1972, then worked as librarian and event coordinator for the Patterson Center. Even after she retired, she continued to read stories to children regularly at MGL Library.
In November 2005, the Murfreesboro Firefighting Association donated a rocking chair to the MGL Library to honor her service as an educator. |
