Summer
Reading Program
Make a splash this summer - read! Our annual Summer
Reading Program runs June 1 - July 23. All ages -- from toddlers to adults
-- are invited to read books and earn rewards! Plus we'll host lots of
free special events, including story-tellers, singers, magicians, animal
visits, craft workshops, and many other surprises. We also have a
reading program just for teens.
Genealogy Group
If you are interested in tracing your family roots
or need tips on conducting your own genealogy research, please join our new
Genealogy Group. This summer, our group will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays to
discuss genealogy and how to trace your family's history. The group is open to
everyone, from beginners to experts. The purpose of the group is to teach,
share, and learn techniques for performing genealogical research. We will
explore many of LPLS's numerous print genealogy resources, as well as online
resources like Heritage Quest and Ancestry Online. This group is open to the
public; no advance registration is required.
Writing Group
Smyrna Writers
meets twice a month, at noon on the second and last Saturday. Open to all
area writers, giving you an opportunity to network, share ideas, and trade
information. You may bring one original piece of writing for peer critique.
Upcoming meetings are: July 31, August 14, and August 28.
Gaming @ the Library
From August 2009 through Summer 2010,
Linebaugh and Smyrna Libraries will offer
a series of gaming programs geared for teens (ages 12-18), seniors (ages 55 and
older) and families (all ages). These programs are being presented in
partnership with the Rutherford County YMCA and the Smyrna Senior Center, with
assistance from our Teen Advisory Board.
