Gaming @ the Library
From August 2009 through Summer 2010, Linebaugh and Smyrna Libraries will offer
a series of gaming programs geared for teens (ages 12-18), seniors (ages 55 and
older) and families (all ages). These programs are being presented in
partnership with the Rutherford County YMCA and the Smyrna Senior Center, with
assistance from our Teen Advisory Board.
Our
next program will be:
Super Smash Bros. Tournament - March 13, 2 p.m. (teens only). Join
us for a tournament using the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl, along with the
Gamecube game Super Smash Bros. Melee. Celebrate the end of the school year by
competing against each other for bragging rights and a feature on the LPLS
website.
Follow
Smyrna Gamers

Genealogy Group
If you are interested in tracing your family roots
or need tips on conducting your own genealogy research, please join our new
Genealogy Group. The Genealogy Group will meet at 1 p.m. on
each Tuesday through April 20 to discuss genealogy and how to trace your
family's history. The group is open to everyone, from beginners to experts. The
purpose of the group is to teach, share, and learn techniques for performing
genealogical research. We will explore many of LPLS's numerous print genealogy
resources, as well as online resources like Heritage Quest and Ancestry Online.
This group is open to the public; no advance registration is required.
Tax Assistance
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Census will help determine your representation in Congress, as well as how
federal funds are spent and economic development is promoted. Representatives
from the U.S. Census Bureau will be available at Linebaugh and Smyrna Libraries
in March and April to offer free assistance to people filling out their census
forms. Assistance will be available in the Smyrna Library Conference Room on the
following dates:

Mondays, 3-8 p.m.
Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m.
