2009 Summer Reading Program

The 2009 Young Adult Summer Reading Program: Express Yourself @ Your Library begins on June 2. You can sign up at Linebaugh Library or Smyrna Library.

The Young Adult Summer Reading Program works the like the regular Summer Reading Program -- except there are special events and prize drawings just for teens. The Young Adult Summer Reading Program is open to those ages 12 to 18.

Participants must complete a review slip for each book that is read. All types of books can be included: audio books, e-books, hardcovers, paperbacks, and graphic novels. These slips must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. on each Friday to be entered in the weekly prize drawings.

Participants who read five or more books by July 24 will receive a grab bag of goodies from the library. Grab bags will be available after July 14. You will also be entered into the grand prize drawing to be held on July 29. Learn more about our Summer Reading plans by reading our FAQ.

Presented by the LPLS Teen Advisory Board. Join us for a great discussion about the books we love. For ages 12 & up.
June 18, 4:30 p.m. at Linebaugh - Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
July 16, 4:30 p.m. at Linebaugh - The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
 
Improv Workshop
Fun & silly theater games for tweens/teens.
June 10, 2 p.m. at Linebaugh Library, for ages 10-14.
June 27, 1 p.m. at Smyrna Library, for ages 12 & up. 

Yarn Spinners
A casual gathering of knitters of all skill levels and interests. Join us if you are interested in learning to knit or  share your knitting expertise. Bring needles and yarn. For ages 8 & up.

Creative Cooking with Katie
A hands-on, interactive culinary program demonstrating that a delicious healthy meal comes from a creative mind. For ages 12 & up.

Mono-Printing with Watercolors
July 11, 1 p.m. at Smyrna Library. For ages 12 & up.

Zine Workshop
Learn all about zines! We'll learn about zines, talk about how to make a zine, and work together to make a collaborative zine. For ages 12-17.
July 18, 1-4 p.m. at Linebaugh Library - Advance registration required.

Creative Writing Workshop
Artsy Mamas is presenting a special creative writing workshop for ages 13 & up.
July 20, 2:30 p.m. at Linebaugh Library
